The following is an easy technique for Activating Windows XP that has been proven to work..
It works on the XP Home Edition 2600 & Professional XP Pro too..
It can be done anytime within the 30 days trial Of ULTRAEDIT..
* Download a free copy of UltraEdit32 here..
* Make a backup copy of the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WINLOGON.EXE and rename it as WINLOGON2.EXE..
* Open WINLOGON.EXE with UltraEdit..
* Once open scroll down to position-

00039660h: EB E9 8B D1 57 33 C0 89 02 89 42 08 89 42 10 89

And change the numbers to the ones below-

00039660h: EB E9 C7 06 01 00 00 00 83 EE 04 C3 89 42 10 89

* Save the altered WINLOGON.EXE to a floppy or to another location other than C drive..
* Now you must boot in SAFE MODE..
* Copy & Paste the altered WINLOGON.EXE to the following 2 locations,
overwriting the existing files-

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32

* Reboot your computer..
* Go to "Activate Windows" in the Start Menu and it should say "Windows is already activated!"..

Note That IF YOU TURN ON AUTOMATIC UPDATE, MICROSOFT MAY TRACE THAT YOU HAVE PIRATED VERSION.. SO PLEASE TURN OFF AUTOMATIC UPDATES.. These Updates Are Useless.. :-)
